چکیده

Emergency evacuation planning is a vital problem that affects building occupants’ safety. The commonly used static plans rely on signs disregarding crowd density changes. Such often lead to congestion at emergency exits; since many occupants tend avoid following exit as they feel safer the crowds exiting or other paths familiar them. This paper proposes smart and adaptable system predicts adapts accordingly minimize time. We introduce simulation model mimics movement in different layouts. proposed performs Monte Carlo simulations forecast possible locations guide away from Guiding directions are displayed updated consider dynamic environment evaluated our approach compared greedy method relies signs, showing significant time improvement of 21% achieved average by approach.

Smart Mobile Virtual Humans: "Chat with Me!"

In this study, we are interested in exploring whether people would talk with 3D animated virtual humans using a smartphone for a longer amount of time as a sign of feeling rapport [5], compared to non-animated or audio-only characters in everyday life. Based on previous studies [2, 7, 10], users prefer animated characters in emotionally engaged interactions when the characters were displayed on...

Simulation of Congestion Management for Emergency Evacuation

This demonstration presents novel approaches in the field of evacuee assistance during emergency building evacuations. While much research has been done in this field and produced distributed and decentralized or robust platforms, most solutions are based on the assumption that the shortest-path is the safest one. We demonstrate that this approach is far from optimal, especially if evacuees are...

Smart Congestion Relief

How traffic congestion is evaluated can significantly affect transport planning decisions. This report describes various factors that affect congestion cost estimates and the evaluation of potential congestion reduction strategies, including analysis scope, baseline speeds, travel time valuation, accident and emission impact analysis, induced travel analysis, and consideration of co-benefits. I...

Bottlenecks and Congestion in Evacuation Scenarios: A Microscopic Evacuation Simulation for Large-Scale Disasters

Multi Agent Simulation has increasingly been used for transportation simulation in recent years. With current techniques, it is possible to simulate systems consisting of several million agents. Such Multi Agent Simulations have been applied to transportation simulation for whole cities and even large regions. In this paper we demonstrate how to adapt an existing multi agent transportation simu...

A Smartphone-based System for Automated Congestion Prediction

Accurate collection of traffic data is essential, tactically for efficient highway operations and strategically for capacity planning purposes. Currently, this traffic data is collected by physical sensors, which suffers from many limitations. These sensors gather limited measurements of vehicle speeds and times from their fixed locations and cannot systematically acquire mobility dynamics of i...
